All our lightboxes are made completely of aluminium, so they never rust and last well, even in coastal areas. The corners are welded, so they’re also strong.

The inside is powder coated white, which is the best colour for light reflection, and the outside is powder coated whatever colour you choose. We then fit LED light modules that are specifically designed for lightboxes, giving you a clean, bright sign with minimum power consumption. You can expect many years of trouble-free service from your new custom made lightbox.

We pack our products onto pallets and ship to your door.

The outside of your lightbox can be any standard powder coat colour from the Interpon Exterior range (to see the colour range click here)

Depends on the size of your new lightbox. We will work out what depth to make it depending on the size. As a rough guide, single-sided lightboxes up to 1.5 metres span in either direction will be 150mm deep and take a 4.5mm thick face. More than that will be 200mm deep and accept either a 4.5 or 6mm thick face. Double-sided lightboxes need a little more depth to diffuse light and give more area for fixing securely onto walls etc, so we generally go 200mm for anything up to 1.5m. More than that we go 250mm deep and
suggest using 6mm thick faces.

If it’s fitting to a pylon sign it might need to be deeper, so we can make it 250 or 320mm deep – just let us know what you need in the comments section when you place your order.

Light-boxes usually dispatch in 6-7 working days. If it’s a very large sign, we might let you know that it’s going to be a bit longer to get it made.

Depending where you are, you should receive your new sign between 8-14 working days. We don’t have control over situations our freight carrier might encounter, so we can’t guarantee the time.

Lightboxes have removable trims to allow the face panel to slide in. In most cases the face slides in from the side, so by default we make lightboxes with removable trims on both sides. If you need the face to slide in from the top or the bottom let us know in the comments section when you place your order and we will make the light-box accordingly.

No, we do not install, but read on for tips on installation…

Depends on the surface or structure you’re fixing it to. All our single sided light-boxes come with fixing tabs in the top and bottom for you to fix securely through into your wall, fascia, etc. If you’re fixing a sign onto any form of building cladding, find out where the supporting structure is behind the cladding and make sure to fix the sign into the building structure so it does not fall down.

Double-sided signs fixed to the top of an existing post will require you to bolt securely through the steel plates.

A double-sided sign that is cantilevered, or ‘flagmounted’ (sticking out from a building or post and viewed from both sides) needs to be bolted securely. In the case of a building, guy wires can be used either side, (above the sign so they don’t obstruct people’s view of the sign). Guy wires help to spread out the wind load on the sign and can be especially helpful or necessary in the case of an old building with brick or stone in poor condition. If the masonry is in bad condition, masonry bolts alone may not hold the sign securely. If you need to use guy wires you will need to purchase the wire and associated fixings, but let us know in the
comments section if you think you might need to use guy wires, and we will put an eye bolt in the top of the sign for you to connect the wires to – no extra charge!

Depends how you set it up.
If you want to connect your sign to an existing electrical circuit in the ceiling for example, or to a pole out the front of your premises, you will need to engage a licensed electrical contractor to connect it.

Another way that does not require a contractor is for us to supply the sign with a low-voltage lead (12 or 24 volts), and supply a separate transformer with a standard Australian 3-pin plug. You install the sign, run the low voltage lead through the wall (or along an indoor wall), then simply connect the low voltage lead to the transformer, plug the transformer into
your regular power outlet on the wall, and presto, your sign is up and running. You could also purchase an inexpensive timer from the hardware store to control when the sign turns on and off.

We can supply you with easy-to-follow instructions of how to connect the low voltage lead to the transformer. This is safe and easy to do.
Our default method is to hard-wire the sign for permanent connection to mains by a licensed electrical contractor, so if you would like to set it up yourself, make sure to tell us “I would like the transformer supplied separately” in the comments section when you order your light-box sign.

Yes. If your light-box is over 3.6 metres long we will build it in sections. When you install it, start from one end and the next piece will fit together with screws provided.

The most important information you need is the bolt pattern. Carefully measure the distances between the bolts, from centre to centre of the bolts in both directions, noting the overall size and thickness of the steel plate, and the diameter of the bolts as well. If you have suitable software you can draw it up in plan (overhead) view and send to us as a PDF, EPS or AI file, or a clearly marked hand drawing will do.

A quick note about safety when replacing signs on posts- The size of any replacement freestanding sign should not exceed the size of the original sign. An engineer originally determines the size of the post, sign, and concrete footing so that it is safe and will not blow over in severe weather. It is the responsibility of the person replacing the sign to adhere to the original specifications.

Yes we do. We make simple ropetrack style flexface boxes at competitive rates, or we can make system flexface light-boxes if required.

We do not currently have facility for online ordering for flexface, so please email us with your enquiry, and we will return a custom quote to you.

Yes, our light-boxes meet the Australian Construction Code. They are constructed from aluminium and do not contain flammable composite materials. Electrical connections used are approved for voltages and currents applied.

Installation of your new light-box will need to be performed by you or your contractor in a manner that meets the Australian Construction Code. We do not take responsibility for installation or connection of the sign.

Yes, but not through our online ordering page. Email your design to us and be sure to include all relevant dimensions, and we will send you a personalised quote.

Make a note in the comments section when you order, letting us know the size is critical. We will make sure the light-box does not exceed your dimensions – not even the screw heads on the removable trims.

Make sure you measure accurately. The size you give us is ultimately your responsibility.

When ordering online, you will be asked to enter the width of the frame, the height, then the ‘Height of Sign Face.’

‘Height’ is the overall height of the frame including the legs. Don’t forget to allow the extra length of the legs that goes into the ground – This should be included too.

‘Height of Sign Face’ is the height of the sign face itself (the advertising panel that people are going to look at). See diagram below.

All our frames are welded, so they are super solid, and unlike flat-pack products they will never become loose and wobbly. No plastic joiners or difficult assembly! 

When ordering your frame you can choose from pre-galvanised steel or aluminium tubing. You can also choose plain finish or powder coated to your preferred colour. 

We mitre join the corners, so there are no open ends or plastic caps – everything is neat and professionally finished.

The welds are ground smooth on both sides, so you can use your new frames for single or double-sided applications (Note- plain unpainted aluminium frames will have shiny sanding marks where the welded joins are, and plain galvanised frames will have the welded areas painted with grey zinc primer. See example photos below).

It depends where you’re going to put it and what you prefer.

Galvanised steel is cheaper and stronger, but it is also heavier, and if you’re placing it within a few hundred metres of the ocean, it will still go rusty after some time.

Aluminium is lighter and does not rust, but it’s not quite as strong as steel and is slightly more expensive.

Just about any size you like! If you need a very large frame for a large building, a billboard, or whatever, we can make it in sections to bolt together.

We keep frames or frame sections within 2.4 metres so they can be easily handled and transported. For large frames we make the legs separately with pre-drilled plates, so they bolt together on site.

Yes! We’ve been making signs for many years and know what’s required to support your sign face. We will not span more than 1.2 meters in the shortest direction without putting in a cross-member, so you can be confident using most materials including Colorbond or 3mm ACM (Aluminium Composite Material).

We recommend using mechanical fixings such as tek screws or rivets every 300mm. If you’re also using a polymer or polyurethane construction adhesive, you could use mechanical fixings every 600mm instead. 

If you’re not familiar with these adhesives, you can pick up a tube that fits in a regular caulking gun from your local hardware store. We recommend Sikaflex FC11. A tube goes a long way. 

If you are using folded faces that wrap around the sides, you can use adhesive without the need for mechanical fixings.

Yes, we have the capacity to build small to medium pylon signs (up to 8m high x 3m wide). Email us for a quote.

Be aware that anything larger than 2.4m wide will be uneconomical for shipping.

Yes, we can supply most sign panel products, but we don’t have online ordering options for sign faces at this time.

We can- 

• Cut and groove ACM (Aluminium Composite Material) for flat or wrap-around sign faces
• Cut Colorbond and aluminium sheet

We do not have facilities for folding Colorbond or aluminium at this stage.

We also employ a qualified signwriter, so if you like we can supply your sign with graphics applied, ready to go. Email us your requirements and/or print-ready artwork and we will let you know the additional cost to supply faces with your frame or lightbox.
